Munnar

Once a simple hill station, Munnar acted as the summer resort for the British. The major reason for people visiting Munnar was its tea – plantations. The majority of the tea – plantations were started by the British. A typically Indian hill station, Munnar is besieged with guest houses, shops, and a traditional locale. A heart – warming place situated at the heart of the countryside. Eravikulam is a national park that attracts many tourists. Here you would find endangered species of mountain goats – Nilgiri Tahr. The most imperative thing to do is trekking at Rajamala. It is the King of hills and here you would find friendly mountain goats. Munnar is blessed with other tourist locations like Anamudi Peak, Mattupetty Dam reservoir, Pallivasal, Chinnakanal, Anayirangal, Rajamalai, Echo Point.

Periyar

The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is located at the center of the Cardamom hills. It lies as an isolated area, which helps to protect the wildlife found in these regions. It is famous for its tiger reserves and other animals that inhabit the sanctuary. The wildlife is spread across the whole of the district and has many plantations and small hilltops that give picturesque views to one and all.

Fort Kochi

It is the capital of spice trades in India since ancient times. It is located at the western cost along the Arabian Sea and one of the major harbors for trade. The main tourist attractions in Kochi include the Kochi fort, Chinese fishing nets, St Francis Church, Mattancherry Palace, Synagogue, Bolghatty Island, Willingdon Island. The coastal city of Kochi is one of the first cities where foreign establishments took place like the Portuguese Dutch & British. Thus, their influence is visible on the architectural and other faces in and around the city. The Fort in the city is one such example. If you wish to explore the many facets of the city, you can do so on foot or in a hired vehicle.

Mararikulam

Mararikulam is a small beach village in the district of Alappuzha. The village has a host of fine sandy beaches fringed by coconut palms, ideal to stroll around, enjoy the waves and spend some time in solitude. The Mararikulam Beach offers numerous beach activities to tourists such as surfing, parasailing, swimming or beach volleyball. The beach has not been marred by development, unlike other tourist destinations. Only the local fishermen, their traditional colorful wooden boats share the beach. Mararikulam is also famous for traditional coir-making units.

Alleppey

Alleppey (also known as Alappuzha) is the most popular Backwater destination in Kerala, famous for houseboat cruises. The place is often called as ‘Venice of the East’, considered to be the oldest planned town in this region and the lighthouse built on the coast of the town is the first of its kind along the Laccadive Sea coast. It is a Land Mark between the broad Arabian sea and a net work of rivers flowing into it. Alappuzha is also the access point for the annual Nehru Trophy Boat Race, held on the Punnamada Lake, near Alappuzha, on the second Saturday of August every year. This is the most competitive and popular of the boat races in India.

Fort Kochi

Fort Kochi is a small village along the Arabian coastline and is famous for the Chinese Fishing Nets, Dutch Cemetery, Synagogue and Churches.
